Founded in Clapham High Street in 1967, what is now Charles Sinclair & Co. became a partnership early in 1969. Under the guidance of its two senior partners, Charles Ijaz and George Edward St.Clair (now retired), the company grew steadily over the next 30 years to become one of the most successful and highly regarded firms of estate agents in Clapham. In those early days Clapham was an area fairly typical of south London. Although it enjoyed open space on the Common, a range of shops and easy access to the City and West End, like its neighbours, it was less fashionable than similar places north of the River and prices were considerably lower. The founding partners, however, recognised the potential of the area and now easy access to transport combined with a wealth of exciting restaurants, winebars, night life and fine period property make this one of the most attractive and sought after parts of London.
